CURRENT REQUEST STATUS: CLOSED FOR THE 2024 SEASON. No more requests this year. The seedlisting is being discontinued. No seed will be offered by the packet to the public for 2025. A different program is taking its place; stand by for details as I get them added.
The text list below was for the 2024 seedlisting (now expired) and was published December 29th, 2023. Also available was the descriptive Seed Catalog V6 (this is a link, CLICK ME).
You can also Message Me On Facebook (this is a link, CLICK ME).
Seed is only being offered on a SEED SHARE / SEED SPONSORSHIP / SEED CSA program for 2025.
Seed is no longer being offered for public request by the packet for 2025, sorry.
If you are an indigenous person/indigenous organization seeking rematriation of a seed variety I am listing, exceptions may be made; please feel free to contact me.
What is a seed share / seed sponsorship / seed CSA?
—> CSA stands for “community supported agriculture”. You are contributing to help support the costs involved in planting the new crop. In exchange, you will receive a selection of seeds from previous harvest(s). Selection of varieties is my choice based on availability (you do not get any choice in what varieties you receive).
—> In a sponsorship, you will contribute toward the cost of growing out a specific variety of seed to me before the season, and in exchange you will be entitled to receive a portion of that same exact variety’s harvest later on.
How does it work?
—> For CSA signup, all you must do is submit a signup form when I make it available, then settle with me accordingly.
—> I will publish a list of the sponsorship-eligible varieties by January 1st. This may be old seed that needs grown out, or it may just be varieties that I think are especially interesting or that I want to grow. You may select your variety off of this list, then submit the form (when available) or contact me about it. I will create your contract and changes can be discussed before finalizing.
Seed CSA Program:
– Two packages are available – “Large Plot Package” and “Small Plot Package”. The large package is more suited to those who have larger planting areas available (may contain corn, sorghum, long-vining crops, etc.) whereas the small package will contain a higher percentage of smaller plants and is more geared toward those with smaller planting areas.
– You do NOT choose what varieties you will receive. The assortment is my choice based on factors like climate appropriateness and availability. I always try to give an interesting and diverse mix; you will never receive two of the same variety.
– A 5-variety parcel is $20. A 10-variety parcel is $40. Shipping, if needed, is to the lower 48 U.S. States only and is an extra $5 flat rate at both levels. May also be picked up locally at no extra charge.
Sponsorship Program:
—> A full sponsorship for one variety for one season starts at $250. This will also get you a mention on the website and the Facebook page. It entitles you to receive 5 pounds or 50% of the harvested seed crop – whichever is smaller – regardless of species. The finished seed can be picked up locally or shipped. Shipping is only available to the lower 48 U.S. states, is NOT included in the sponsorship price, and will vary based on final weight and your location.
—> A half sponsorship of a variety for one season will start at $125. This will also get you a mention on the website and the Facebook page. It entitles you to 2 pounds or 25% of the harvested seed crop – whichever of these amounts is smaller – regardless of species. The finished seed can be picked up locally or shipped. Shipping is only available to the lower 48 U.S. states, is NOT included in the sponsorship price, and will vary based on final weight and your location.
—> A supporter sponsorship of a variety for one season will start at $50. This comes with a mention on the website only. This entitles you to 8 ounces, or 1 cup by volume, of the harvested seed crop – whichever is smaller – regardless of species. The finished seed can be picked up locally or shipped. Shipping is NOT included in the sponsorship price. Shipping is $5 flat rate (lower 48 U.S.) and $15 flat rate (Canada) and can be added at the time of sponsorship if you need it.
—> A mini sponsorship of a variety for one season will start at $25. This comes with a mention on the website only. It entitles you to one seed-saver sized finished packet of seed from the sponsored variety. The packet can be picked up locally or shipped. Shipping is $5 flat rate (lower 48 U.S.) and $15 flat rate (Canada) and can be added at the time of sponsorship if you need it.
—> A variety must achieve Full Sponsorship before it qualifies to actually be grown out. For example, this can be done between multiple people – two half sponsorships, five supporter sponsorships, or 10 mini sponsorships, or any equivalent combination. If varieties are only partially sponsored for the year, I will create and maintain a list of those still needing additional sponsorship. You can then choose to add your funding to those varieties if you’d like. If May 1st arrives and a variety is still not fully sponsored, it will not be grown out; any remaining partial sponsors will be refunded in full at that time.
2024 – ‘Information’/’Rules’: Please read all of the below before inquiring.
– The window to sign up for the Seed CSA closes April 1st, yearly. The deadline to become a seed sponsor closes May 1st, yearly. No exceptions, sorry.
– Due to quarantine/customs rules, I can only ship Seed CSAs or any Full or Half sponsorships to addresses within the lower 48 U.S. States. There are no exceptions, sorry.
– I accept cash, workshare, trade/barter, checks, Venmo, and PayPal. U.S. Dollars only. Credit/debit methods may incur an invoicing fee.
– Trade/barter of a wide range of items is accepted. I am most interested in other critically rare seed varieties, gardening supplies or materials, tools/equipment, natural materials or fibers such as fur and antler, taxidermy, etc. Please feel free to inquire about an exchange.
– Please, NO phone calls about this seed. Please use any of the other available online methods to contact me – email, Facebook, contact form via website. The phone number is for local farm customer use only.
I am just one lone, poor farmer and everything here is done by me, alone, by hand. I do not have ‘buy it now’ seeds and likely never will. This is a private, niche seedbank that is a labor of love, where everything lives on in ounces. Good homes for the seed are paramount. I will be candid and honest, but not coddling. If you may find this extremely frustrating, look elsewhere. This is not a seed company and not a place to acquire a stockpile of baubles to covet. It is a genetic resource, offered in good faith, to preservationists.
The list below is from the old 2024 seedlisting and is no longer valid and cannot be requested from. It will be removed before the new listing of available sponsorships is posted.
